πŸšπŸ‡¬πŸ‡· FREEDOM FOR CAMPERVANS IN GREECE! πŸŽ‰βœ¨

Great news from Greece! πŸ–οΈ The new Law 5170, officially approved and published by the Greek Ministry of Tourism πŸ›οΈ, cancels the previous abusive regulations 5127 regarding off-camping parking β›”, restoring the situation to 90% of how it used to be! βœ…

This important victory was made possible thanks to the consistent efforts of Antonius Zampetas and the Zampetas Camping Megastore team in Thessaloniki πŸ™Œ, along with the Greek Motorhome Association πŸ‡¬πŸ‡·. We’re proud that we β€” CampMap, Rulotism On/Off Camping, and CicoBella β€” also contributed, together with the entire Greek campervan community and international groups (sadly, less so from Romania). Together, we managed to shift the perception of the authorities: motorhomers are not a threat, but a valuable form of alternative, sustainable tourism β€” active both in season and off-season πŸ’ΆπŸŒ….

πŸšπŸ’™ Motorhomers are active supporters of the tourism economy and deserve respect, not restrictions! Equally important, though, is that we as campers respect the places we visit, local communities, the law, and the environment. 🌿🀝

πŸ“œ Below you can find the official articles from Law 5209 FEK 100 for reference πŸ‘‡, along with images of the amended text and a downloadable PDF version.

69. β€œMotorhome”: A special-purpose vehicle distinguished as follows:

a) Self-propelled motorhome: A vehicle for passenger transport, equipped with a living area that includes at least:

aa) seats and a table (the table may be designed for easy removal),

ab) sleeping space (which can be converted from the seats),

ac) a cooking area,

ad) storage space.
All the above equipment must be permanently fixed in the living area.

b) Towable caravan: A road-legal towable vehicle that provides mobile accommodation and appropriate equipment, similar to the above, for use when stationary.

Article 38 – Stopping and Parking

Stopping and parking are allowed, provided they do not endanger or obstruct traffic, and as long as there are no prohibitory signs or markings.

Outside residential areas, stopping or parking is allowed only in designated areas or on road shoulders; if these are absent, as close as possible to the right edge of the roadway and parallel to its axis β€” unless otherwise prohibited.

In residential areas, parking is prohibited for freight vehicles over 3.5 tons, buses, construction or agricultural machinery, towable caravans, self-propelled motorhomes longer than 7.5 meters, and boats β€” for more than 24 consecutive hours.

For motorhomes and caravans parked outside residential areas, paragraph 5 applies.
